Taking GADS Data Reporting to the Next Level

New NERC GADS Requirements

Is your generating availability data system (GADS) reporting application keeping up with the times? The North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) announced significant changes to 2006 GADS reporting. To review Solomon's take on how these changes may impact you, visit our News page.

Current…Accurate…Reliable…

If you are looking for real applications that you can begin using today, GADS NxL™ is the only software solution you will need.

GADS NxL, written by industry veteran Ron Fluegge, offers the ultimate applications—GADS NxL Data Entry and GADS NxL Analysis & Reporting—to collect and analyze GADS data. These applications embody the latest technologies in both Windows- and Web-based applications, including our SD³ Security Framework. Using time-tested and user-friendly interfaces, GADS NxL Data Entry and Analysis & Reporting provide correctly calculated results the first time…every time.

Our software development team is comprised of some of the founding developers of the GADS data collection and reporting software, which has been in use since 1987. More than 75% of the generating companies reporting to NERC and NYISO have used this initial GADS software. This expertise ensures that you are getting the best GADS software tools available anywhere.

Our latest count shows that GADS NxL is being used to collect and analyze data on more than 200 companies and 1,800 generating units. Our GADS NxL software is in use internationally and will soon be available in both Spanish and Portuguese.

ISO New England uses our GADS NxL Portal software to allow participants to upload, validate, and analyze their GADS data as required by the ISO.

GADS Data Reporting Workshop – October 2006

During this annual event, GADS data reporters learn the fundamentals of data collection, reporting, and analysis. A copy of the workshop agenda is available on the NERC GADS web site. Because active participation enhances problem-sharing resolution, be sure to bring your real-world data reporting event examples. These and many others will be discussed during the workshop.

Attending this year’s GADS Data Reporting Workshop will help you become more knowledgeable when it comes to:

  • who uses GADS data and why
  • the “common language” of generating unit availability and reliability
  • what constitutes a GADS event and performance data
  • tips to make data collection and reporting easier
  • examples of how to report events

We encourage you to attend if you are involved in the collection or reporting of GADS data at your organization. This workshop is also useful to availability engineers and system planners who use GADS data. Also, anyone interested in learning more about GADS and how it can help in the analysis of reliability, availability, and maintainability problems is welcome. For more information, visit the GADS Data Reporting Workshop site.
